Christianity cannot be overcome. The God of the Universe is revealed to all mankind in Christianity. All religions are NOT equal, just as there are not many ways to God. There is only one way to fully know God. That way is through His Son, Jesus Christ.
This is more true in civil law than it is in any other sphere of human activity. American democracy is not theology. It is a weakened form of our government. America was founded as a republic without Christ’s sovereignty declared. The founders of America thought that the flourishing of Christianity in the nation could be entrusted to non-governmental entities or institutions. And they knew that the divided form of government they were forming would not survive unless the people themselves decided to live as Christians.
While this construction of constitutional government perpetuated the global empire of the English-speaking people beyond the two great wars it failed the people miserably. Christianity has retreated from not just the public square and civil law. The tide of Christianity is now flowing out of the church. The trickles of moisture, God’s Holy Spirit, are evaporating in the blistering heat of God’s judgment.
The evidence is everywhere you look. But I don’t want this column to be about that. It is about the light that shines in the darkness. It is about the FACT that the darkness has not overcome that light. Evil cannot overcome good. Oh sure, it wins some battles. Evil, is, however always losing the war.
Evil has won, and is winning, battles in your life right now. Mankind’s fall — the sin nature — cuts through every human heart. The sun of God’s love, however, rises every morning for those who have eyes to see Him. He is there for all of us. There isn’t one human being on earth who cannot turn in an instant to Jesus Christ and receive His everlasting love. The instant you turn you start down the narrow path of His righteousness. The broad path of self-loathing and destruction is abandoned.
God’s path for me involves politics and sodomy. He has used me in various capacities to speak His truth. My fight is not over. In important ways it is just beginning. And it is a fight. It is not a walk in the park, though God is so kind to have given me many opportunities to walk in parks along the way, and benefit from His rest.
So many Christians must walk a more difficult path. Some are imprisoned or martyred for His truth. This was the case for all of His Apostles.
Many Christians are persecuted today in the Middle East. Migrations of large groups of Christians are forced by our meddling in the region. America’s best friends there have no interest in preserving these ancient Orthodox expressions of the two thousand year old faith. Muslim migration into northern Europe is fueled by our failed policies around the Mediterranean Sea.
And why shouldn’t they fail. No single nation can, or should, make the world safe for democracy. Especially since God is the one that separated humanity into nations of people who speak different languages. Who do we think we are?
Every nation has the right to choose its own form of government. They are sovereign over their own affairs. It is deep darkness to think that we know what is best for everyone on earth. This knowledge is reserved for God Himself. We must proceed down the path He illuminates for us. Jesus Christ demands absolute loyalty. Nations thrive when they bow the knee to Him. They decline and fail when they don’t.
And nations can, just like individuals, choose the darkness rather than the light. Our nation is falling into darkness. The light is becoming dim for America. But it hasn’t gone out. There is still time to repent. We can turn from our wicked ways. You can turn from your wicked ways.
When you do you will not find material prosperity, but you will discover the peace of God. This is a peace that is beyond understanding. It is spiritual. Like the manna God provided to the people of Israel as they wandered in the wilderness it is new every morning. Great is His faithfulness.
The discovery of His peace will give you power. He will give you the power to oppose evil in your everyday life. He will show you where and how to fight. He has a fight for you. And He won’t allow you to fight alone. He will be with you in the deepest, darkest corners of your life. In fact, as you nurture your relationship with Him you will find that His light shines brightest in you when the darkness is the most threatening.
The Psalmist writes in Psalm 2, “Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.”
Christianity is not just about individual piety. Even kings must serve the Lord Jesus Christ with fear. They must rejoice with trembling. They must kiss the Son.
